Join us at Wolfbait on Give Back Friday! We’ll be donating 20% of total sales to two Logan Square community groups, Palenque LSNA and Trash People of Logan Square. Read on to learn about each group’s efforts, and other ways you can support them.
Palenque LSNA is a multi-issue community organization, directly serving more than 6,500 residents across the Logan Square, Hermosa, and Avondale neighborhoods of Chicago and impacting tens of thousands more through nationally-recognized issue campaigns and programs. Palenque LSNA is currently partnered with New Hope Church, who is providing a safe space for unhoused folks to shower, do laundry and cook meals. Palenque LSNA runs donations to them, as well as bringing in community partners to provide case management services. They have multiple employees connecting with new neighbors, learning about their needs and finding new ways to provide for them. Their team also shows up to city meetings to advocate for the unhoused, and engage in work related to immigration services.
ABOUT TRASH PEOPLE OF LOGAN SQUARE:
Trash People is a community organization, founded with the aim of bringing together neighbors to connect over a shared care for the Logan Square community. Alongside regular community cleanup events, Trash People organizes volunteer opportunities with other local community organizations, recycling/resource redistribution projects, and social events. Over the past six months, they have been working dilligently with various community organizations to collect donations and distribute them to new migrants and others that need support. Their work has had a tremendous impact so far, but as winter approaches and demand increases, providing warm clothes and other basic necessities to our most vulnerable residents is more challenging than ever. In order to bolster and streamline the efforts of those working to address these needs, Trash People will be opening a pop-up “free store” in Logan Square.
