Most of us want to step away from stress scrolling and spend more time being present with the ones we love, but it’s hard. On average Americans are on their phones three hours a day, checking them 58 times–adding up to 50 days a year.During the pandemic, this was me, I was obsessively checking my phone throughout the day.I was looking for an email, for a “like”, for a tiny fragment of good news. It was a constant search for self worth, connection or meaning, that was never really there. It was keeping me from being present with my life and family, and the frustration culminated to the point where I actually thought to myself “I just wanna kill this thing!” Thus, Coffone Co., the world's first coffin-inspired phone rests were born.
Like the old adage out of sight, out of mind, it really helps to have a place to keep your phone, a place to go back to when you’re ready. I pop my phone in the coffin at night, when I have family and friend gatherings (see the family plot), and when I’m feeling overwhelmed and need a screen and scrolling break.
