I was inspired to create an entire Medusa collection after reading an article that examined the mythology of Medusa and Athena from the feminist perspective. It challenges the misogynist patriarchal context in which Medusa is typically represented as a villanous monster, and instead paints an image of Medusa as a survivor who is not cursed by Athena, but rather granted the gift of protection.
