You Gotta Let Me Come Back Inside! Minizine

A black and grey minizine inspired by John Carpenter’s 1982 masterpiece, The Thing!

Product Description

This minizine is based on 1982’s John Carpenter’s The Thing!

The inside of the zine is a simple black and white comic, showing a cute little rat turn into a chaotic slimy monster and then…back into a cute little rat! The foldout is a black and gray illustration of a scene from the movie, in which the ensemble gets their first good look at the titular Thing.

Like my other minizines, this guy is folded from one sheet of 8.5×11 copy paper, and printed in black and gray.

This February, me and Sam recorded a daily podcast, over the course of which we watched The THING 22 times. If you’d like to hear us slowly lose it, you can find it on most podcast apps, as “28 The Things Later”.

Meet the Maker

Hi friends, I'm Jam! I draw creatures, plants, buildings, things I find on the sidewalk, and unhinged still-life tableaus. For the last three years, I've worked as a family educator during free drop-in family programming at the Garfield Park Conservatory, making art in my free time. While I can't participate as directly right now, I still want to create work that helps people engage with urban biodiversity.  Shifting my focus to art full-time means I will be able to tackle larger projects that I've been working towards, such as self-published comics, character design, and larger multi-media works. Additionally, I love an excuse to participate in my multi-generational family vocation of mailing people weird art!
